A multichannel instrument is designed so that a n u m b e r of single-channel s p e c t r o m e t e r s can be arranged radially about an x-ray tube and sample. E a c h of the subassemblies has its o w n collimator, analyzing crystal, and d e t e c t o r . In this m a n n e r , up to 28 elements in the sample can be measured simultaneously. Most of the channels can be preset for specific analyte lines. In addition, o n e or more channels can be equipped as for scanning and thus are suitable for qualitative w o r k .
